The Rev. Jed Dearing
RECTOR
Rev. Jed serves as the 25th Rector of Trinity on Capitol Square. A forever fan of the westside of Columbus, Jed first worshipped regularly as an Episcopalian at the Street Church service of St. John's Town Street in Franklinton, where he was also confirmed and served as a lay preacher. Jed launched the Confluence Episcopal Service Corps Program in Columbus which he served for 5 years as director, including a stint as Interim Executive Director for Episcopal Service Corps nationally, before discerning a call to the priesthood. He received his Master of Divinity from the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, California, then served as clergy in residence at St. Francis Springboro. Jed has previously served in the Diocese as both a member of Praxis Communities and the Commission on Ministry. Jed and his wife Raine, have two rambunctious boys, Llewyn and Reynolds who both love serving at Trinity's In the Garden meal ministry and riding the #10 bus with their Papa back home from church.

The Rev. Iva Joyce-Miesse
ASSOCIATE RECTOR
Rev. Iva is a lifelong Episcopalian, having grown up in rural south-central Ohio, and bearing early witness to the love of Christ-lived-out within her early faith community, St. Johns’ Episcopal Church in Lancaster, Ohio.
She discerned her first call to health care at the tender age of fourteen when she began attending physical therapy with her father after he experienced a near amputation of multiple fingers. She obtained undergraduate degrees in Exercise Physiology and Athletic Training from Miami University and subsequently attended Ohio University to obtain her degree in Physical Therapy. Prior to discerning a call to the priesthood, she practiced outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine physical therapy for almost thirty years with multiple segues into management and departmental directorships, but throughout, her heart remained in patient care and her ministry of healing.
Rev. Iva earned her Master of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia in May of 2022. She migrated home to Ohio to accept her first call as the Associate Rector at Trinity in May of 2024 after spending just over a year in Boulder, Colorado while her wife, also an Episcopal priest, served at her first call in an Episcopal parish nearby.
Rev. Iva is the proud momma of two amazing adult children, Ryan and Gwyneth. She and her wife, Julia, are the devoted servants of their nearly one year old cat, Sherman. When not engaged in the work of the church, Iva is an avid hiker. She also enjoys adventuring with Julia, cooking (and eating), time around the kitchen table and traveling near and far.
