First Wednesday Services:
The Foundations of Unity

February - June @ 6:30pm

An evening of contemplative music, a conversational sermon and Holy Communion shared around a simple supper of soup and bread. We neither abandon our roots nor retreat from new insights. We gather around shared story, sacraments and prayer rather than a single interpretation of those things.
Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, Mariann Budde, offered a homily at the Service of Prayer for the Nation on January 21st in which her powerful and graceful "plea for mercy" to President Donald Trump has received much public attention. Lost within the discourse is the vision she offered celebrating the virtue of unity, "unity not for agreement, political or otherwise, but for the kind of unity that fosters community across diversity and division, a unity that serves the common good." Join us on First Wednesdays as we explore a Christian vision of unity and engage with the three foundations that she offers to undergird it.

May 7 - Foundation #2 | Honesty in both private conversation and public discourse.
June 4 - Foundation #3 | Humility in both personal and communal life.
