The Rector will be on vacation July 2—July 30.

Please contact the Parish Office with any pastoral concerns, 221-5351. Parish Seminarian Scott Steiner and local Episcopal clergy will be available for pastoral care and emergencies. If no one answers in the Parish Office, please leave a message on the Rector’s voice mail to arrange visitation.

This Sunday we welcome The Rev. Ed Payne who will preside and preach at our 9:30 am liturgy. Fr. Payne will also preside the following Sunday.

PayneAs clergy of our diocese for nearly twenty years, Fr. Ed Payne has served St. Simon of Lincoln Heights, St. Andrew of Cincinnati, St. Mary's of Waynesville, Grace Church of Pomeroy, St. Peter's of Gallipolis, St. Paul's of Chillicothe and St. Francis of Springboro.  Currently, he is retired from parish ministry and is intensely involved in the ministry of serving as a diocesan supply priest.  Over the years, he has preached and celebrated Holy Eucharist in twenty-six parishes of our diocese.

Prior to his ordination in the mid 1990s, Fr. Ed Payne lived a life of music, music teaching, and music performance.  As an operatic baritone, he made his professional debut at age 17 with the Cleveland Orchestra in 1965 as Baritone Soloist in Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, Robert Shaw conducting.  He sang leading roles in twenty-one opera houses in Italy under the auspices of the Florence Opera House, and in forty-one states for the Boris Goldovsky Grand Opera of NYC.  He sang the role of Bernardo in Bernstein's West Side Story with the Chautauqua Opera.  He sang leading and featured roles with Opera Columbus for five seasons.  He sang the role of Robbins in Gershwin's Porgy & Bess for two seasons with the Metropolitan Opera.  He was a New York District Winner of the Metropolitan Opera Auditions and has performed recitals throughout the United States.

July 11th—PIMIL: Partners-in-Ministry-in-Liberia

PIMLCOUNTDOWN TO PIMIL ACTION!
Join sponsors and friends of Partners-in-Ministry-in-Liberia (PIMIL) to celebrate the 10th Anniversary at the 6th Annual International Luncheon and Silent Action.  The time is on Saturday, July 11, 2015 from 12:30-3:30 pm!  The place is at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 700 High Street, Worthington, Ohio.   It is going to be a fun, educational, and a rewarding time for the entire family like last year! 
The theme this year is “Feeding the Mind Body and Soul” (John 21:15).  Activities include the return of last year’s dynamic speaker, by popular request, power point highlights of PIMIL’s achievements, exciting drumming with the “Talking Drum” from Africa, intriguing cultural activities of greeting, songs and stylist head tying, literary work of the children and much more.  The children’s activities include interaction with the “Talking Drum” and charcoal drawing.  The children will connect with the theme through different media of puzzles and brain teasers, kinesthetic movement and prayer.
A “delicious meal” of Lasagna, toss salad and bread, Spinach greens on rice, Jollof rice with mixed vegetables, rice bread, fried plantains and “Ginger Beer (non alcohol) will leave one wanting more!.  Dessert includes the celebratory cake of PIMIL’s 10th Anniversary on the International Cookie and Tea Table.  The cookie table will feature such homemade cookies of Scottish Shortbread, Irish soda bread, French Meringues, Turkish Baklava English Scones & tea cookies, Spanish Churros and much more!  At the cookie table, one will have the opportunity to make a donation toward the Ebola orphans.
The dress code is casual, colorful, African, tropical, Hawaiian!
The cost of International Luncheon is $15 for adults and $5 for children and youth.  PIMIL is supported by the voluntary contributions from sponsors and friends. Proceeds benefit the education of the school children and Ebola orphans.  The goal is to raise $7000!  Therefore your presence is highly appreciated!  If you cannot come but would like to make a donation do so through:

SUMMER PLANS FOR IN THE GARDEN

ITGWith the wonderful support of our ITG Partners and all of YOU,we continue to provide a hearty meal for 80-120 diners each Sunday afternoon through the summer.  We will celebrate our "roots" on July 26 when we have a picnic in the Trinity garden and sidewalk area!
This will bring summer activities to a brief "pause" as we pull back in the month of August to sack lunches handed out at noon to those who are in need. We are hoping that the Trinity congregation will help us make and pack these sack lunches after our August 9:30 service each morning.  The ITG Team will have sandwich materials and other sack contents ready to put together!  As you are shopping  during the weeks ahead, we would be grateful for any contributions of brown lunch-size paper sacks, power or snack bars, and small bottles of water.  We will vary the sandwiches and fruit contents, so each Sunday will have variety!
In The Garden will resume our normal schedule Sept. 6.

Paula Redden to ride in Pelotonia

Paula will be riding on August 7-9 and asks for your prayers and support.  Donations can be pledged at www.pelotonia.org/paularedden.  100% of donations go to research at the James Cancer Center at The Ohio State University.

Stevens BookTrinity Church will host Becca Stevens in November for an exciting and uplifting weekend. Prepare by reading one (or more) of her books. More information and books are available here.
What started as an impossible dream-to build a café that employs women recovering from prostitution and addiction-is helping to fuel an astonishing movement to bring freedom and fair wages to women producers worldwide where tea and trafficking are linked by oppression and the opiate wars.
Becca Stevens started the Thistle Stop Café to empower women survivors. But when she discovered a connection between café workers and tea laborers overseas, she embarked on a global mission called "Shared Trade" to increase the value of women survivors and producers across the globe.

Fund-raiser: Organ Stop Drawknobs - GOING FAST!!

With the recent repairs to the Casavant organ console, all of the drawknobs were replaced. Commonly called "Stops," these are the triggers for all the different sounds created by the instrument. Each is labeled describing the sound or function of each stop. (e.g. "Chimes" pictured here) A complete list of the labels is here, check with Kevin to see which stop are remaining.
We've converted them into keychains and are making them available for purchase, asking $25 each in this fund-raising project. Please contact Kevin Wines to place a request. First-come-first-served for each stop. Key chains will be available for pickup on Sundays.

Please don't forget our neighbors on the street. Candles, diapers, and new dry socks are essential for this time of year. We have many weekday requests for snacks and canned self-opening food items as well. Remember to save hotel toiletries from your travels. All donations are greatly appreciated.

THIS WEEK WE REMEMBER IN PRAYER:

We remember all who work for peace around the world, and especially this day we pray for our nation and other international partners discerning war and peace and wisdom in this time of terror and violence. Remembering friends and family members related to this community, we pray for Petty Officer Kristy Sizemore, Cynthia Epler, Matt Schumann, Commander Scott Whaley, Gunnery Sergeant Robert A Griffith Jr., and all who serve our country.
Today we pray for peace throughout the world, especially in Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Iran.
We renew our commitments to serve the neediest and most easily forgotten in our midst and remember all who are homeless and hungry in our city today.  We give thanks for the generous hospitality offered this afternoon at In The Garden, and pray for the Holy Spirit’s abundant grace in our fellowship.
