Mass in the Grass

Mass in the Grass

August 12, 2012

10:00 a.m.

Trinity’s principle and only service on Sunday, August 12 will be held in Goodale Park with our annual Mass in the Grass picnic to follow.  All are welcome.  The In The Garden ministry team will provide fried chicken. The Parish Life ministry team will provide table ware and beverages.  Please bring a dish to share.

Please don't forget our neighbors on the street. New dry socks are essential for this time of year. We have many weekday requests for snacks and canned self-opening food items as well. Remember to save hotel toiletries from your travels this summer. All donations are greatly appreciated.

Each Sunday we pray for those serving our country at home and abroad. This week's eChimes continues a series introducing these Trinity heroes. Family members of service persons, please send some information and a photo to Kevin Wines for future weeks.

ecsfThree rides, one goal: Cycle to Break the Cycle: Sign up to ride or sponsor a rider for ECSF's Bike Fest, your choice of three great bike rides Aug. 17-18. These pedal-powered mission trips will raise money for community ministry grants to churches throughout the diocese. A great choice for outreach committees and youth groups, the Columbus Urban Treasures ride stops for lore and refreshments at ten urban ministries, concluding with supper, social and raffle at St. Alban's. The Cincinnati Eastside Eden ride is your choice of distance along the Little Miami bike trail, with way stations where you can collect lore and snacks, before ending at St. Thomas for a cookout with live music by Robinson Circus. Veteran bikers: consider the two-day Tour d'Ohio from Procter to Cincinnati and back. Led by the Rev. Steve Smith and Chris Tokarz, this follows some of Ohio's loveliest bike trails with free lodging at Church of the Redeemer. Everything you need to sign up or sponsor a rider is on ECSF's website at or call ECSF at 513-221-0547. A brochure can be found here.

We pray for all who are sick or suffering at this time – Phyllis Gill, Michael McKinley, Zane Burchfield, Bascil Wines, Sr. Priscilla, Bill Warren, John Johnson,  Emma Parey, Bob & Jodi Park, Carrie Stowers, Joanne Giroux, and others whom we name silently or aloud.
We pray for Captain Andrew Saik, Capt. Brian Smith, Marcus Hill, Jordan Sellman, Ted Abad, Private Dan Williamson, Cynthia Epler, Matt Schumann, Commander Scott Whaley, Specialist Michael A. Martin, Gunnery Sergeant Robert A Griffith Jr.
We remember all who work for peace around the world, especially in Nigeria, Iraq, Egypt, Syria, Iran and Israel, Afghanistan, Pakistan and South Sudan.
And we still our hearts and turn our prayers today to the poorest and the most easily forgotten in our midst . . . praying especially for all who will visit Trinity this afternoon and worship at In The Garden, and the many in need of food and lodging.  We ask for vision to see the needs of our neighbors, hear the cries of the poor, and respond with courage and with love.
Today’s flowers are given to the Glory of God and in Memory of  John E. Graham & Doris D. Graham.
