IN THE GARDEN Partners Celebrate with a Picnic!

ITGLast Sunday was the In The Garden version of 'Mass In The Grass" with a wonderful picnic planned for the garden and surrounding areas of Trinity Church. Due to rain, we had to quickly move into the Undercroft, but a festive atmosphere remained.
Planned and provided by ALL of the ITG Partners, a bounteous meal of hamburgers with ALL the fixings, baked beans, potato salad, potato chips, sugar cookies and ice cream cups was enjoyed by over 160 diners. With help of food and hands from the ITG Team, Saint John's Worthington, All Saints’ New Albany, Faith Fellowship in Johnstown, Toll Gate Middle School in Pickerington, and Dublin Presbyterian Church, we also welcomed Jamie Massa and Stuart Hobbs to their first time at In The Garden. Absolutely no one left hungry. Catherine Cheek provided delightful music on her guitar and songs, prayers, and feasting was enjoyed by all. It was a great send-off for the summer.
In August we will be providing sack lunches at 12:30 pm in front of the church for those who need food. The congregation of Trinity Church will be putting the lunches together  after the 9:30 service, so  we need your help!
We will resume our usual 1:30 ITG program in September

Thank You from the Lay Weeders

LayWeederThe Lay Weeders thank all who gave so generously to the garden fund last spring. Donations totaled $800. We’ve purchased a 50-foot hose, a sprinkler, two watering cans, annuals for the northwest corner, and several perennials for the south border. We plan to order red tulips and other bulbs for fall planting, and are investigating shade-loving shrubs for the south border. We’re very grateful for your support.

Summer Reading

Stevens BookTrinity Church will host Becca Stevens in November for an exciting and uplifting weekend. Prepare by reading one (or more) of her books. More information and books are available here.
What started as an impossible dream-to build a café that employs women recovering from prostitution and addiction-is helping to fuel an astonishing movement to bring freedom and fair wages to women producers worldwide where tea and trafficking are linked by oppression and the opiate wars.
Becca Stevens started the Thistle Stop Café to empower women survivors. But when she discovered a connection between café workers and tea laborers overseas, she embarked on a global mission called "Shared Trade" to increase the value of women survivors and producers across the globe.

THIS WEEK WE REMEMBER IN PRAYER:

We remember all who work for peace around the world, and especially this day we pray for our nation and other international partners discerning war and peace and wisdom in this time of terror and violence. Remembering friends and family members related to this community, we pray for Petty Officer Kristy Sizemore, Cynthia Epler, Matt Schumann, Commander Scott Whaley, Gunnery Sergeant Robert A Griffith Jr., and all who serve our country.
Today we pray for peace throughout the world, especially in Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Iran.
We renew our commitments to serve the neediest and most easily forgotten in our midst and remember all who are homeless and hungry in our city today.  We give thanks for the generous hospitality offered this afternoon at In The Garden, and pray for the Holy Spirit’s abundant grace in our fellowship.
We pray for all who are sick or suffering at this time –Debbie McKinney, Cliff Miller, Jack Wiseman, Bill Form, Dick Oman, Elizabeth Lilly,  Joanne Lynch, Dave Mozano, Pauline Austin, Leelah Acorn, Marie & Keith Duty,  Jan Heston, Frances Bennekamper, Gayle Nash, Jayla Kennedy, Josh McKinney, Sharon Whaley, Hal Duryee,  Bob Park and others whom we name silently or aloud.
Birthdays:   Al Sheppard, Jane Forbes, Patricia Hatler, Whit Sheridan, Jackson Blackburn, Caroline Hixon-Reed
Altar Decorations are given to the Glory of God and in memory of Doris and John D. Graham
