Come Celebrate Trinity Sunday

Members of the Columbus Gay Men's Chorus' Illuminati will sing at Trinity Church during the 10:30 a.m. liturgy on Sunday, June 3. illuminati

Iluminati is proud to be a bridge between the GLBT and religious communities.
This accomplished ensemble performs monthly at various religious institutions and events around central Ohio.  Illuminati works to demonstrate that we all have a place within God’s family, regardless of sexual orientation, gender, ethnicity, etc. Referring to the Latin phrase “the Enlightened Ones”, Illuminati was created to respond to the community’s expressed desire for performances of a sacred or spiritual context.  The mission is to increase outreach performances, particularly to religious organizations, while respecting the members’ spiritual beliefs.

Book Discussion: Righteous Gentiles in the Hebrew Bible
By Rabbi Jeffrey K. Salkin

Salkin coverNoted author and educator Rabbi Jeffrey Salkin was a guest at Trinity earlier this year when he preached on gentiles’ integral connection to the Jewish community. This topic is also the subject of his recently published book, Righteous Gentiles in the Hebrew Bible. Rabbi Salkin provides an informative and inspiring look at the sympathetic non-Israelite characters of the Hebrew Bible and the redemptive relationships they had with the Jewish people. Relying on biblical and extra-biblical sources, he introduces each character, drawing lessons from the life of each. They include gentile midwives who invented civil disobedience, gentile contractor for Solomon’s Temple, and the first gentile mother of Jewish children, among others.
Please join Susan McKinley and Emily Pucker in discussing the book in Trinity’s library. If you did not buy Rabbi Salkin’s book while he was at Trinity, it can be purchased from Amazon.com for $4.55 used; $18.99 new. A Kindle edition is available, too.
